Default Z06 spring & Koni FSD shock install...

Knocked out the rear tonight... easy work, but if you ever do this be very careful to not cross-thread the bolts that hold the spring to the cradle... almost had to bust out the tap/die set but got it to go in straight. For some reason the right side shock was a PITA to get the upper bolts started, left was a non-issue.

These are OEM C5 Z06 mono leafs and Koni FSD shocks. I have C6 front spring adjusters (sets the car lower than the standard C5 units) and the LGM rear kit which uses longer bolts than stock (allows you to lower the car more than the stock adjusters). I got the springs from a Corvetteforum buddy and used his suggestion of 8 threads showing for the rear as the initial ride height setting... looks pretty damn low and the car looks ridiculous w/ the nose at stock ride height. Going to lower it to the max in the front w/t he C6 bolts and then set the rear off that to maintain the fatory recommended 5mm of negative rake.

FSDs installed... you can also see the C5Z swaybar here.

Stock rear spring out

Forgot to snap a picture of the Z06 spring installed, it looks like the base spring but with less arch and not dirty.

Took it around the block to allow the ride height to adjust.

Looks good!

Did you get a chance to measure the rear? I'm interested to see what your measurements are from the ground to the fender. Looks pretty low.

Car looks good. How is the ride quality in a vette? I am partial to red vettes and yours is no exception.

FYI this isn't considered "lowered on stock bolts" as that would be using the OEM spring adjusters. This is using C6 front adjusters and longer rear bolts to get it lower than you can w/ the stock adjusters, just in case you were confusing the two.

Nah... didn't measure anything... yes it does look low, I can't even get 2 fingers between the quarter panel and tire. I'm going to lower the front all the way down when I put the front setup in then adjust the rear up to maintain the forward rake.

100% depends on which suspension package you get. The base suspension that this car came with is downright luxurious... it's amazing how nicely it soaks up the horrible highways around here. First I added C5Z swaybars and noticed a decrease in ride quality over sharp bumps... which was expected. Now I expect ride quality to reduce a little more w/ the car lowered and stiffer springs, but the Koni FSDs are pretty trick and should keep the cruise ride nice and smooth. The car will feel like a stock C5Z but a little smoother w/ the shocks... basically it's very comfortable but when you hit a sharp bump it reminds you you're in a sports car. IMO it's the best blend of performance/comfort for a street car.

I'm so glad you are getting back to your normal form. For a second I thought your how-to threads were gone forever.

Nice job on the car grandpa
