also, the 03-04 Cobras were legendary cars. any car that can make over 1000 hp without ever taking a valve cover off is special in my book.

 

Sure you knew. That's why you mentioned reworking the 4v heads. I was talking about the late model 4.6L. You can get a full exhaust+headers+intake+cams+throttle body+tune for less than $2k and you will already be up around 360-370whp in an S197. Sure, you can get a higher hp level with the same bolt on parts in an LSx engine, but that is all due to the old "no replacement for displacement" rule.

Despite your opinion, the 03-04 SVT Cobra was an awesome track car. I am talking about AutoX and road racing. I have watched my old roommate place in many events with that car. I am sure you have plenty of experience here as well. I am sure you have owned an 04 SVT Cobra and raced it on the track. Oh, wait, that never happened.

You're right.... I have no track experience.... '03-'04 Cobras are shit auto-x/track cars. The chassis sucks, the suspension sucks, they're nose heavy, they're fucking heavy in general, and the stupid heaton gets hot.

I wonder if the regulation board (don't remember their actual name) will make them change the published output ratings? IIRC car manufacturers have to now prove what the engine puts out. Didn't they have to change the ZO6 HP rating because of this in 2006 or 2007?

 

No... there's just a new ISO certification for horsepower ratings to equalize things accross the industry. The Z06 didn't have to change anything, it was just one of the first cars to be released under the new testing/standards.

 

I think they can still get away with under-rating an engine, I don't think you'll see as many over-rated engines though.
