Yeah, z dashes love cracking. I had two FAT gaps in mine that I filled up and repaired. Looks good as new.

I don't think I'll ever get a cap, I just think it kills the dashes shape

I need to do that. I had 3-4 gaps and some major fading. Is there something you can paint the original dash with to prevent it from cracking? I just went with the cap because it won't ever (so they say) crack again.

Yes it is lowered by about 3.5 inches. I used coilovers from Arizona Z Car. The options for coilovers are pretty slim. Other than AZC coils or a mainly custom setup, the only other option is welding ground control coil sleeves onto stock struts, then sectioning the struts if you want to go lower than 2 inches.

No real treatment besides good luck.

30+ year old vynl is going to crack no matter what
