I've got a 2000 camaro with a Strange 12 bolt. Need a new locker, its leaking, and it has some clunking sounds. I basically want everything checked out, and fixed.

Would preferably like to have a quote first, for different situations, since I'm strapped for cash right now.

I knew it was coming, I had to do it. I was hoping I could get some action out of it. Thankfully, the famous porn star, Lord Humongous, didn't let me down.

I agree with Camaro75, take it to Ricks. If you tried to take anything Strange to either an import shop or just a straight up Auto Repair place they'd be like "huuuuhhhhhhhh?" Actually, VA speed might be a decent place to call, either to get the work done or for a reco. They do a lot of Vette stuff and I know they're familiar with Strange, Ferrea and a lot of the other more serious drag-oriented parts companies.

 

I had VAspeed do work on my motor. Turned out well, but I ended up spending a lot more than I had discussed with the person who I was dealing with at first (who eventually left in the middle of my build, and it was just a headache). Also, the labor rate there is something along the lines of $100 an hour, which I would like to find cheaper elsewhere. They did a good job on my motor, just trying out other options.

I'll have to look into Ricks. Have you dealt with them?

 

Go across the street from VA speed to Kalbones racing shop. I have heard good things about the rear work they do, and thats where I will be taking the 9" for my truck when it needs to be done.

 

Just to throw it out there.... you mentioned it was leaking, did you happen to run it low? idk if you topped it off, checked the fluid or changed it recently. They will be notchy with low fluid and require some type of break in when new (no clue how old it is either, and what type/brand... makes a diff in noise also) Maybe pop the cover off for a quick peek? look for springs, chunks of metal, discoloring on the "dogs" of the locker. If its a "lunchbox" style locker you can snag one for under 400 new and put it in yourself... but again lack of info.
