scorpion was quieter than an HJC... but no where near as quiet as a Shoei... and they are still heavy... Ride in a Shoei one time.

I dont know what to tell you.. I think that you are the first person that I have EVER heard that said a Shoei was not comfortable. I mean.. there is a reason they are so expensive. They are one of the best helmets on the market.

 

Just personal preference I guess. Paul got one and couldn't get a whistle to go away and I've never heard anyone bitch about scorpion. You really think they're heavy? Maybe I just have a strong neck because I can barely feel this thing.

 

you guys catch the RF 1000's on closeout @ cycle gear???? $199 shipped! im thinking about getting one to upgrade frome my KBC RR but im wondering how it'll do with 2 yrs shelf time before i get back home and actually use it. I dont think these shoeis will ever be this low again.

You never hear anybody bitch about scorpion because it is a cheap helmet. It is the higher quality of the cheaper helmets. I mean.. you can pick up a new Scorpion for $130. What is to bitch about? If its not PERFECT... you only paid $130 - $200... In comparison to say Shoei and Arai that can run between $400 - $700... you will be expecting a perfect helmet. So if anything is wrong... you are gonna bitch about it.

Kinda the same concept if you go to McDonalds and get cold fries.. you half expect them to be cold.. but if you go to Cheesecake factory and get cold fries... without a doubt.. you are sending them bitches back and bitching about how you paid this much and got some cold ass fries.

Not to say that McDonalds does not do the job and fill your stomach.. but it doesn't taste as good as Cheesecake Factory. A Scorpion helmet will protect your melon but it just doesnt feel as good as a Shoei.

As for Paul... I dont know what to say... I know that he has an RF-1100. I have not worn one of those yet. I have only had the RF-1000's... maybe his windsheild seal is not seated right... maybe something is a miss. Mistakes happen... I can almost promise that if he called Shoei and complained... they would send him a new helmet. Hell.. my friend had a Shoei and wrecked in it. He called Shoei and said how their helmet saved his life... They asked if he wanted a new helmet. They sent him an brand new helmet in exchange for his wrecked one. I dont see the cheaper companies doing that.

To each their own though. I stand by my Shoei as I have had atleast a few dozen different helmets within the last year. As far as the weight feels. My brother bought one of my scorpions and likes it just fine. He had a modular before and he put the Scorpion on and loved it. He said it was WAY lighter than the cheap ass JMaxx I gave him from before. He has never owned a Shoei either.. but he loves how "light" the scorpion is. The point is that he didnt know how heavy the JMaxx was until he rode with the Scorpion. You will not notice how heavy your helmet is until you put on a lighter one. Then you will be like... WOW.

When I first put on my Shoei and went for a ride. It felt like I wasn't wearing a helmet at all. I went from an HJC CL-14 to a Shoei Diobolic 3 RF-1000. And it was astonishing how light the helmet was. It was so snug and form fitted... light and easy to move. I fell in love... now I will always own a Shoei unless I come across something better. I dont see that happening anytime soon though.

 

I am not sure which one I showed you.. I think that I may need all of my headlights. I am putting together a frame right now. I have a guy gonna trade me a 07 R1 for a 04 R6 put together. So I am trying to put together an R6 from all my spare parts. I am short a windscreen, fairing stay, cluster, left mirror, subframe, passenger seat and some pegs. So I will be after some parts myself.

I told you to bring me what you have and let me look at it.. I might be able to help you out and get you something really cheap.

I dont recommend Fulmer helmets. Shoie Or Arai is the way to go.
