Damn you beat me to it, I have a magazine on it. Import Tuner from 2009: "The only other GT-R imported was completely gutted, given a tube frame chassis and a rear mounted VW engine, and was used specifically for off-road stunts." Also another thing I found interesting in re-reading the article "'Paul even had to fight the production company-almost literally-to keep vinyl graphics off the car during filming.'" At least someone over there knows what the fuck they're doing.

 

Correct, I read the same thing. The sti's were not even registered cars with fake intercoolers.. lol

 

LOL, yeah I read those were cardboard ICs. Didn't know about the Skyline being a total fake though.

 

What I'm wondering is from the article did Import Tuner misreport that the fake Skyline was a GT-R or was it just a maybe just a Skyline GT-T or GT? I would hope that if they were going to essentially dismantle and ruin a Skyline that they'd have the good sense to use a less desirable variant.

EDIT: just read further, the gutted one WAS a real GT-R, 6 other ones imported and were "based on the non-turbo GT-T" which is a incorrect as the GT-T had the RB25DET NEO, a turbocharged I6. The T at the end of "GT-T" stands for turbo, so I'm thinking maybe whoever was giving these quotes didn't really know what they're talking about.

I figured they did the same thing with some of the other cars, Especially since the green Camaro towards the end was HOTROD's "F-Bomb".
