I figured it was because it's a $78k Bentley that's posted on Craigslist. If I'm looking for a Bentley, I'm probably not going to bother looking on the local free couch and parts car classifieds.

It means the driver is coming back for the car, not abandoning it. I dont know the roots of it, but Im sure theres something on the web that will get you the answers you look for.

cause if you leave your car on the side of the road, technically its abandoning it and can get towed. so the white flag/rag indicates thats youre coming back to get it. i think, dont quote me on it though lol
