while we're on the subject, why do people put those in the windows of broken down cars? how did that become the norm?

 

I figured it was because it's a $78k Bentley that's posted on Craigslist. If I'm looking for a Bentley, I'm probably not going to bother looking on the local free couch and parts car classifieds.

 

It means the driver is coming back for the car, not abandoning it. I dont know the roots of it, but Im sure theres something on the web that will get you the answers you look for.

 

I think a long time ago it meant you needed help. That's changed. ^

 

cause if you leave your car on the side of the road, technically its abandoning it and can get towed. so the white flag/rag indicates thats youre coming back to get it. i think, dont quote me on it though lol
