i talked to the mb tech and he said dont go by the dash gauge.. he told me he had the mechanical gauge hooked up and it was reading from up to 9-10 bar when throttling and it would come down to 1.5 bar when at a stop light which he didnt see a problem with since you have it cammed... he said as long as you dont have that needle drop off completely you should be fine
K, sounds good. I was just worried about the intermittent nature, that maybe it didn't do whatever it did when the gauge gave me a low reading when the tech had it hooked up. And yeah, 1.5 bar at idle with these cams is fine. The engine builder basically said oil pressure at idle with these cams can just be ignored.
I put it a new sender this morning and drove all over the place without any weird drop off the max peg when giving it throttle.
Turned out to just be the sender.
Also, I learned today that valve cover gaskets are not like the gaskets on oil filters, i.e. you shouldn't rub oil on them...European Cars of Williamsburg got me back on the road shortly after I had to pull over though
