yes you have to register even if you are coming to spectate. a couple of people had to be turned away at the gate for the last event because they didnt. they dont mess around there, you will not be allowed on if you are not on the list.

Roll bar isnt required to run driftwater, but the normal saftey check is .... battery tie down, wiggle your tires see if theres any play. Basically want to make sure your not bringing a heaping pile of shit on track.

We bring a heaping pile of shit to each event, and it may look like its going to fall apart .... but far from it. And its usually one of the first cars on the track, and one of the last cars off the track at the end of the day.

If you have a roll bar and dont have padding ... you may scuff your helmet up a bit.

Why the refusal to pad it? GoodWin has pads for 45 to fit the roll bars.

Im seriously debating weather to sign up for Saturday at VIR, then packing up and comming home and going to Driftwater on Sunday. If it was Summit Point id do this option in a heart beat ... but VIR is well ... VIR and real nice and real fun.

What to do .... What to do ...

The hard top will not fit with padding. As it is, it rubs the trim on the underside of the hard top.

Plus with my normal seating position, I don't see how I could hit it even with this helmet.

The padding only covers the front of the roll bar (where your head would hit)

Not like full Nascar huge foam padding.

So shouldnt have an issue with the hardtop, just your huge melon haha.

Don't you just love Murphy's Law?

I will probably sign up to drive as long as Tarzan isn't there

I can put the helmet on and not physically touch any part of the bar with the surfboards in the car. I see a massive difference with the NA versus the NBs with stock seats.

If I remember correctly, the hard dog hardcore hard top sits farther back and lower than the regular hard core bar so maybe that's the reason I don't have the issue...that and I am only 5'10. As it stands, I won't be putting padding on the bar. If I'm not able to run the car there, I can live with it.
I'll still probably come out as a spectator.
