it was my cam gear cover i guess you would call it that was on fire. so maybe that started from the motor being so hot

what kind of cam gear? factory? or a ebay adjustable cam gear? if it's aftermarket ebay, thats how it broke...and i'd like to know how a fire got started from that my damn self....factory cam gears are pretty tuff, i'd like to see that cam gear.

If the cam seized up from lack of lubrication, thats how the gear would break... The bottom end is still turning, so either all of the teeth tear off of the timing belt or the cam/gear breaks.

Or it's a crappy aftermarket cam gear and the hub fatigues and breaks under normal use. Chinese parts are known for things like that.

was it an aftermarket cam? if so maybe cam caps were overtorqued causing the cam to seize up? but would like to know what kind if cam gear it was.. also im assuming the engine shut off right after this happened? seeing as how the dizzy would no longer know the cam nor crank position to know when to fire.. also like stated above it is an interferance motor, good chance you bent some valves up. But really dont see how this could cause a fire? no matter how hot plastic gets it wont spontaneously combust.?
