FIRST THINGS FIRST, never let a cop search your car, EVER.

second, a loud exhaust will pass VA state inspection, but most likely not emissions. If the cat is removed, it will fail. If any O2 sensors are removed, it will fail. If it leaks, it will fail.

 

Find out the diameter of the opening, since I'm guessiing you don't know what brand it is, then search for silencers that will fit.


Or just get a decent muffler that comes with a silencer.

 

Doesn't matter if you put 8 silencers on there. It's not illegal because of the noise. It's illegal because it's not the OEM exhaust system. Welcome to fucking VA.

how do you know they were feds and not just plain clothes cops? also, never let a cop search through your car without a search warrant, even if there is nothing in the car but a driver seat.

 

This. Who knows what kind of crazy shit the PO could've been into? Also +1 on the profiling, they saw you and automatically thought you'd be an easy drug bust, this means that you more than likely need to take a serious look at your image. Something about the way you look or act screams drug user.

 

lets not forget the jail time and huge fine(one guy at the shop said around 45k) that you can receive for altering an emissions system in anyway.

Its not like federal agents just cruise around trying to pull people with cops lol this car was under a microscope for some reason.

If it is an ebay exhaust try looking on ebay for a silencer or just get a new muffler.

There is 02 sensors and there is a cat so it does pass inspection, i used to be a state inspector in PA and you have to go threw emissions to pass plus a safety so i know it will pass state inspection, its just stupid that cops pull people over here in VA for after market exhaust systems.
