Tips on getting into racing? I would tell you what I tell most people, NASA is a club racing organization that also has high performance driving events in which you receive instruction from experienced drivers and racers. This is the most common way to progress as a driver and move up through the ranks.

As my girlfriend said above my name on youtube is DRFTwizard.

cheers,
Sweet thanks man!! I'll definatley have to check out the NASA racing setup and see if i might be able to go to one and get a good look at what it would cost to go to annual events and how it would work with my schooling. Thanks again about telling me about the NASA racing setup!

So the car has had stock rubber rear subframe bushings in it. I knew that these wern't a good idea with 400hp but thought I might be OK since I had upgraded the rear trailing arm bushings and added in the the unibody reinforcement plates where the subframe mounts. I bought knew 95A durometer Buna N subframe bushings and decided to remove the rear subframe after work today and discovered that the subframe was moving more than I thought it would. Luckily I don't think any damage was done because of the subframe reinforcement plates. Needless to say i'm definitely glad I finally decided to drop the subframe and upgraded the bushings or this could have ended ugly. Check out the pics below.

Stock rubber bushings

Evidence that the subframe was rubbing the body under load

Some of the rubbing on the forward mount

SO...productive day

Removed the old subframe bushings. Waiting on the new solid ones.

Made some rear camber arm plates to box in the split arm design. For whatever reason the stock camber arm is two pieces and easily bends with big tires or if you try to strap it down on the dyno or trailer using them. Pretty simple fix.

The stock rear swaybar mount will crack when a big swaybar is installed. To fix this I copied the Turner motorsport designed reinforcement bracket. Its a simple bracket with two bends that connects the swaybar bracket to the subframe in an additional location.

And my dad helped me out by mounting the switch panel, love it....looks like its floating.

Man, OP you have really done a good job of taking time, and doing things right. Finally had time enough to kill and go through this thread. . .A lot of time invested into this build. Sounds amazing too, btw. Great job, looking forward to the end result.

I'll add some better pics of the cage when we are done welding it, we just tacked everything together at my house. We are still going to make a D bar to connect the legs of the main hoop. VERY happy with this cage. If your looking for a cage lemme know.

Take a look
