My AW11 Build...Round 2
I picked this '88 up with just over 100k on the clock. PO just replaced the timing belt, thermostat, water pump, plugs, wires, cap, rotor and fuel filter (all OEM parts) and the car runs like a top. No accidents and the interior is aLMoST mint (one small crack in the dash...right in the center by the windshield). The paint is a single stage job and its seen better days. I just finished polishing it and it actually came out really good. I'll snap some shots of that tomorrow if it's sunny.
Anyway, just a reminder as I built an AW11 before. It got tossed around VaDriven and I feel horrible...I never should have got rid of that car...That car had a 4AGE 20V Silvertop running blacktop electronics, D2 coilovers, Super Advan SA3Rs, ST Rear sway bars, Prothane engine mount bushings, Prothane bushing set, Speed Source bronze shifter bushings, Speed Source Shifter Base Bushings, Custom OBX Twin Loop exhaust and all the brakes, ball joints and bearings were new.
Here's the old car:

The new car when I picked it up: (sorry for blurry images)

After a bath and ditching the bo-bo rims. Temporary Rota Slips 15x6.5 +40

Probably going to do a very similar build as last time...but maybe a blacktop 20v. The AE101 4AGZE is tempting but I hear there's lots of problems past 15psi using the supercharger...I do like the idea of having lots of torque though. We'll see.

Yeah...the color is hella ugly...I'll be correcting that..eventually. Addressing the brakes, suspension and then the engine. The 16V 4AGE actually runs amazingly well so it'll be staying in there while I try to decide what heart transplant I want to do...4AGZE is soooo tempting. I LOVE the roar of the ITBs though...the throttle response was super crisp with the 9lb flywheel.
Isn't your AE86 20V? LoL 4AGZE would make for a better daily driver. Mid-range power is great with that engine. I dunno, MSPNP just came out for the 4AGE 16V in the AW11 so I might just buy the SC parts and toss it onto the NA motor.
wow, OLD car was clean!
What kind of performance do these things have? How do they handle?
In for something different, looking forward to seeing what ya do.
