we'll see what happens now... i have a new smaller turbine housing so it will let the whole turbo sit lower and not cause an issue between the hood and compressor housing

that fucking things is still enormous though

How heavy do you think my engine is with the heads and accessories off?
My next step is making a plate I can use to do a leakdown test on the block without a head attached. I'm trying to come up with a plan for if it fails that, since failure will mean the bottom end needs to be rehoned. My idea is to take out the engine, leaving the oil pans on it, and put it in the trunk of my BMW (I've taken rough measurements and it should fit if I lay it on its side) and drive it down to the engine builder in FL. Do you think it's light enough that I could do that? It can't weigh more than what like 150lbs once stripped down like that?

it probly weighs more than 150 if you're leaving the crank, rods, and pistons

but your bmw should have no problem carrying that engine in complete form

Ok, so you're going to come over if/when the time comes to prove to me why I should lift weights and help me put it in my trunk, right?

I think the whole engine complete with accessories is just over 450lbs, but it wouldn't fit that way, so it has to be in pieces.

Is there anything wrong with transporting an engine on its side? I guess there can't be, or the 300SL Gullwing's tilted engine wouldn't have worked.
