I need help

The heater/AC in the Suburban works, on occasion. I can turn it on High and it will work for about 2 minutes, then stop. it only works in High. Ok, so I looked at the relay under the hood, if you shake it or position it in just right, it will turn on the blower fan, (even if the truck is off). I am not sure if there is a bad ground somewhere, if a bad connection somewhere, of wires touching..

But why would this be happening, and why can it only be in High to work?

The Suburban is a 1990 1500.

Have you tried switching a relay of the same in that spot to see if it does the same?

Not yet,but the part is on order. I wanted to get more opinions on the situation.

It is weird, the relay has a sort of silicone "grounding" it to the blower housing... I am not sure why this was done like this, but it is. Does the relay have to stay constantly still for it to work, or can it flop around and be ok?

normally if the blower only works on high, the blower motor resistor is/going bad. no idea about the wiggling making it work with the ignition off tho..

If all the wires trace out fine and aren't melted together or shorting out anywhere, I was wondering if the relay is stuck at a spot it is seeing constant power and by jiggling it, is crossing over to tell the fan to kick on.

Assuming it's a 4post relay with a 12v, switch, load, ground
