Welcome to the graveyard shift, it's nice once you get use to it.

 

Don't think it's really a barn but it's been a while since I've really paid attention. This guy has all kinds of stuff and does some land speed record runs from what I've heard. It's near northwest hardware in salem, dude drives a smart car too.... It may not be the same guy though.

 

It's really not that bad. I like having my evenings off and not working Friday and Saturday afternoon like i was doing.

 

It's been a few years since I've been out there, but that sounds like the right guy to me. I've been to that shop a few times and seen some of the insane things he has laying around as paper weights. Claimed several of the motors sitting around were 1600+ hp.. Land speed record cars.. I believe there was one of the teams Nascar back-ups in there.. weird cars with jet turbines in them.. a REALLY low mileage Typhoon with 16,000 original miles still on the original tires.

Might be a douche, but I didn't pick up any of that when I was out there. Never the less, what blows my mind is that there are probably private garages with that kind of stuff littered all over Roanoke and 90% of them are unknown because it's just some dude tinkering around in his garage with something that may never see the light of day. That's not necessarily the case with this guy, but I've never heard anyone else mention any of his stuff.

 

I looked at it closer today it is a barn shape. I wouldn't say douche but he's a character.

 

Holy shit, just realized... ya'll are talking about HOLLYWOOD. Yeah character is a better description. Hes got a 323 gtxr land speed car and lots of other stuff. Had some nationwide nascar engines, tons of random stuff.

If you go way further up in butt hollow rd past northwest hardware, bob wells with wells machining lives and has a shop back there. He does land speed stuff too.

The thing that connects the two of them is that they both bought F3 chassis racecars at the same time. Idk if Hollywood still has his, bur Bob still has two of them. They ran euro spec Ford Zetec 2.0l racing engines originally, but Bob is converting one of his to US spec SVT Focus stuff to make parts availability better. He was running them at Maxton, but they stopped doing land speed stuff there so I think he does some other ECTA stuff.

But I digress... lol

Spotted OMG Z34 today on Peter's Creek,turning onto Airport Rd. That car makes me hate my cars.I drove the rest of the way home with no hands- only my erection controlling the steering wheel.
