What does everyone find is the best way to strip chrome? I've got a shift knob that is scratched up chrome that I want to strip. I want to do this cheaply.

Brake fluid. Let it soak for like 10 minutes then it should rub off with a rag. Might take more than once though. Just don't let it sit to long. It will stain the actual metal.
