i was unimpressed by what gas monkey garage did to the car to make it cosmetically "better" than Ferrari

what i meant was a cosmetically stock f40 is already perfection..... try and read between the lines

 

 

Wow Gas Monkey must be bankin now since the showed aired. Havent seen it since i moved to germany, richard can be annoying but erin seems pretty chill.

 

Soo,, what did you expect them to do? A ground up restoration back to 100% factory spec and loose their ass because of the money involved in doing so? Not only do I highly doubt Ferrari would ever recertify a car like that, I know a collector wouldn't ever pay top dollar for it. There would have been no buyer in that market to pay what they needed to get out of it, so they went after a market which they sell in often, custom. They bought a salvaged Ferrari (which no purists is going to want) They went about rebuilding the car in a correct way, minus a few things, and they changed the color, (which I personally think looks great) the headlights, (which I don't understand how you think the original flip outs look cosmically better) upgraded the turbos, exhaust, etc, put it on some pretty badass HRE wheels and switched seats the seats for some Recaros. (Yeah, I probably forgot a few things they did but that's beside the fact) All of which are noticeable but subtle changes. It's not like they did a ls7 swap and ruined the character of the car, they simple took an F40 and improved on the stock chassis. I would maybe understand a tad more if they bought an immaculate, untouched F40 in pristine shape and then started cutting the spoiler, changing this and upgrading that. But, I guess you don't believe in modifying cars because who does that, right?
