The problem is these $100,000 German cars have awful resale value.

Every car takes a hit, but you can find a 2010 BMW 7 series for $14,000 in the local repo depot.

Audi seems to be even worse.

That's why you buy the used ls460l they have the best resale of them all I believe.

Needless to say I'm probably never going to be in the market for one of these cars and if I do, I'll only accept the RR Phantom.

s4/5 is a different class of car than what we're talking about. there's a difference between your general "luxury sport" car that's an ultra-comfortable, prestigious quality "fun" car and your over the top ludicrously overpriced ridiculousness like many of these super sedans we're talking about. the 335i that i had was a different experience than the sti i'm driving now, the fit and finish of that car was fantastic (and the audi interior blows the bimmer's out of the water...). but my personal taste brought me back to the pure fun of an sti. like i said, to each their own, i love the s5's looks and that 4.2 v8 is EXQUISITE. i think i remember clarkson saying it was the best motor on the planet (he was driving an rs4, which i think is a cool car but yes still overpriced...). they put it in the first R8, for christ's sake.

Put it this way. Unless you have a liquid account with about $3500 in it for emergency repairs, don't buy an Audi. I just spent upwards of 4K on my wife's a3 because the oil pump decided to lock up and take out the entire head after snapping a timing chain.
but then here's the other side of that 4.2, and yet another reason i decided to "side-grade" from my 335i... the service on these german cars is just ridiculous. they talk all that shit about german engineering, but their shit breaks ALL THE TIME, and conveniently right at the end of their warranty period. and it's stupid expensive to repair, and you may as well give up trying to do the work yourself unless you're a certified technician with access to their proprietary equipment; i swear on most of them you can't even change the damn oil without some sort of manufacturer-specific tool...

Never buy anything brand new. Always buy used. Turbo panameras are in the 60-80K range now...and yeah, you can get a Z06 for that money but to each their own. I'd rather have the panamera to be honest, not something you see every day and there gets a point in your life where you just say "fuck it I want something nice and classy with balls to drive". They ride like clouds.
this is where i'll disagree. i'll never buy used again. i bought a demo range rover evoque with this mentality with only 5000 miles on it, used only by the dealership sales staff and nearly 10k knocked off the msrp. it's a heaping pile of shit, and i'm literally filing for a lemon law on it after it's been in the shop twice, the first time for over 30 days for a new transfer case and then a wheel bearing that scared my wife half to death on her trip home from virginia beach a week after we got it from the first repair. NEVER. AGAIN. you never know what the car was put through for those miles you didn't have it... and lemon law only covers NEW cars (and is a tremendous pain in the ass, as is anything involving lawyers and the weight of a manufacturer to go up against).

You bought a Range Rover, there's your problem right there dude. And you should've gotten it looked at by a technician

it's a 2014 model year, currently with 11000 miles on it. i bought it at a range rover dealer with 5000 miles on it. it was a demo, cleared by their manufacturer-trained technicians to be sold as a new car.

i will partially agree however with the brand reputation. after hearing awful consumer experiences from the past, i thought they had turned the corner with the evoque, after seeing shit like this-

http://www.motortrend.com/oftheyear/..._rover_evoque/

and my wife was obsessed with the looks of the thing. and in all actuality it's a fantastic car, i just think this particular one has been run through the ringer. i have an honest suspicion that this one may have been used in one of the local dealership's "events"... you know, the ones where they have new customers come out and do 'off-roading' things. hence, brand new transfer case followed up by a terrifying wheel bearing noise before its first oil change.

i would have been fine with taking a straight up replacement, but i think after all is said and done with jaguar/lr proper pulling a silent treatment and forcing my hand with legal representation, i'm replacing it with a macan.

The S8 I've seen a few around pretty popular.
If you're referring to the R8 there are only 3 in the Hampton Roads. 2 spyders and a standard R8.
If he's not the owner of 5 dealerships in VABCH, the mayor of a local city, or the dude that owns a certain very large hotel resturant on icean drive he's lying.
I'm not sure about the richmond area but the 7 cities those are about as close to garauntee you can get.
(Source is the manager of checkered flag service dept.)
Is the standard navy blue? If not, there are at least 4.

My neighbor had a complete lemon of a Evoque also. Seems to be a trend. That's probably why you found it used with 5k miles.

I cant justify paying 10-15K more for something with 5-10K miles less on it.

Let someone else depreciate the value, and I will only ever buy certified pre-owned since they come with what's basically the same as a new car warranty for the most part.
