I cant justify paying 10-15K more for something with 5-10K miles less on it.

Let someone else depreciate the value, and I will only ever buy certified pre-owned since they come with what's basically the same as a new car warranty for the most part.
Yeah, but then you're getting into BS stealership markups, even when you play hardball. I'm a big fan of buying private party but asking for a pretty lengthy paper trail and going over it pretty thoroughly myself to look for any major issues.

Honestly, the only way I will probably ever buy from a dealership ever again is new, in cash, at the end of the month, at the end of their fiscal year, and when a lot of incentives are going on. You can literally walk in and lowball the hell out of them with cash and just walk out the door if they say no. Usually they call you back in pretty quickly or stop you and accept your offer as you're trying to leave.

You can also do that with a pre-approved check from a bank.

I walked into a dealership for an S4 about a year and a half ago.. had a $15K approved loan check in my hand. Car was listed at 18K. I told the guy I could pay 15, no more, and that was it. hemmed and hawed and said nah we cant do that. I didn't even make it out of the parking lot before he ran up to the car and was like "Fine we'll do 15 but you have to cover taxes tag title and fee obviously" Told him 15 out the door and he's got a deal. Phone call that night from the manager saying to come pick it up in the morning.

THEN the fucking idiots power washed the engine bay doing the final detail and trashed the engine after I told them to leave it dirty and I would clean it my self...

Yeah, that's what I meant but didn't say. I should have said pay in full instead of financing.

I had a similarly annoying experience. I told those fuckfaces not to mount a front plate on mine because I wanted a madtyte JDM side mount, yo, and I didn't want fucking holes in my bumper. Well, they did it anyway and I wanted the car for a road trip so I didn't make much of a fuss. I should have told them to get fucked and not taken delivery until they fixed it.

An old supervisor of mine told me once that he asked the service people to remove the advertising sticker from his truck when he bought it new at beach ford since they just slap them on there... it wasn't off when he went to pick the truck up so He wrote out a bill on a billpad he had in his car for like $10,000 or something for "advertising fees". He explained he wasn't going to be a moving advertisement and nowhere in the contract did it say they had the right to put it on the vehicle he purchased... He said they got it off within minutes lol

Oh, I hate that shit. My car had one on it. It was on there for a grand total of approximately 5 minutes longer than my trip home.

I've always done the exact same thing. Bought my Volvo from a Nissan dealer, said "I'm not a billboard, please remove the ugly ass sticker" - said they had to leave it on, but I could remove it when I left the lot. I presented my contract for advertising, breaking down the miles I drive and the 50 cents per mile ticket assuming I would keep the car for 5 years, was a 25,000 invoice. I said "Hey, we can knock that down to 0 if you take the badge off". Surprising how quick they change their tune!

oh my god. it was not used, it was a demo, sold as a new vehicle.

but anyway, semantics. at the end of the day it is a piece of shit, but i still won't throw the whole brand under the bus (they've done a fair job of that already though...), as i'm still pretty sure the thing was abused before i got it. and fair's fair, the interior of this thing is the best of any car i've been in, from the dash upholstery to the seats to the stereo. i really wish they built the damn things better.

the true sad part of this story is i had to convince my wife to look at the macan. she was dead set on just getting another evoque. just the s model is almost as quick to 60 as my sti...

The macan is probably a fantastic, like all other Porsches. Honestly, if you daily a British car, you're just asking for trouble.

I want a Macan badly but just can't switch to an SUV, even with my 3 rugrats. I think the GLA AMG may be my next purchase if I don't get a Charger Hellcat. The GLA seems to be a mix between a hatch and a crossover. Anyone been in one? Much room?

Apparently it is an excellent track car according to speculation:
