Catalan is just a dialect of Spanish, I feel it's more of an accent with the vosotros used a lot. I learned it in Madrid. I know the the Brazilians speak Portuguese, the people in Suriname speak Dutch, there are a lot of languages widely spoken there. Most people actually speak Portugese because Brazil makes up 50% of the population of SA, but most countries speak Spanish. International Politics and Government are my areas of study.

Back on topic, learning to write is something that can only help you. Communication is key.
