Help:350z or S2000
Instead of putting a 6cyl in my car I just picked up a 4.77 final drive. Have you ever been in an s2000 with a 4.77 final drive? I have all the tq to the wheels I need to out accelerate a 350. And our cars are not as light as you think. It's the gear box honda put in our car that gets our car out of it's own way. You can do alot with a low amount of TQ if you know what you are doing when it comes to gearing. The high redline on our motors is what allows us to take advantage of that gearing.
To whoever said our 2.0L N/A car is slow:
I ran a 13.9 @ 100 w/2.0 60' with my 01' s2k when it was STOCK. And I stopped trying after that due to it's my DD. It really is a drivers car so don't call it slow just b/c you suck at driving it. I'm sorry but those numbers impress the hell out of me for what it is. And it was never intended to be a fast car in a straight line.

To back up your 1/4 mile times, I ran a 13.87@102 in my '00 model year with nothing more than a Comptech intake. Fast? No. Slow? Again, no.
The beauty of the car lies in the driving experience. It's the same reason Miatas are fun to drive. It's not just the straight line numbers the car can or can't post, it's the overall balance and driving experience.

I just got back from test driving an '04 Z and an '04 s2000. I thought the s2k was hands down the better car. It drove much smoother and was almost as fast as the Z, plus the interior I think is much nicer. plus vert = sexy

No the M3 can not. At least not the E46. It doesn't handle near as good as the E36 did.
The 350Z would easily take the M3 on a track. And now with the 07 350Z running 13.2 at 107 mph so far as the best time at the drag strip, the M3 would be out powered too.
