Thanks. Thats what I 've be trying to say. All these people have yet to listANY hard facts. All I hear is I race a Civic Si b16......or I raced my boys b18c1....blah..blah. Lets not talk about driving skills and traction. Motor for motor. A modified stock b16a will perform better than say a b18b. Now that doesnt mean the b18b is not a good platform for something else.
Realistically people.

 

I wouldn't consider the H22 engine overrated...i jumped up approx. 40 horsepower

know a few friends that werent very please with ther b16a,simply no torque.... but i think the b18c1 and c5 are good motors... but its just a really expensive difference from an ls thats all. i think this thread was more directed to people that assume a car is fast because it has vtec. an LS motor has just as much potential than the vtec motors

 

Do you know what's funny? I'd say about 75% of the people here... probably don't even know WHY VTEC makes more power. All they know is that they have "VTEC" and that makes them so fast. Ok... you have some aggresive cam profiles on top end... take a DOHC motor.. put a good set of cams in it.. and besides a couple ft. lb's on the bottom end.. you're no faster than that guy with the plain ole DOHC Non vtec.
