Than why do yall have an on-call pager.......and like you stated...it goes off alot
*is trained for windows servers...not unix*
Unix to me is foreign.....Ive allways used NT,windows2k server....moved onto window2003 server and loving it......
UNIX is not what pages us.. We are oncall for the applications also so our pages are about having to restart application VM's.. Nice try though. Of course UNIX is foreign to you then. What's really cool is that I used to be a windows admin (mcse on nt 4.0 actually) so I can honestly say what a piece of shit it is.

Well the guy that I work with does not have 8-10 years of experence, but knows his stuff and does nothing at work but learn more...right now he is going for his rhce does he have a chance to be able to work for the company
Have him send me his resume.. RHCE is a good cert.. It's the only one where I was actually 'tested' and couldn't just remember some brain dumps and exam cram shit..

At least you guys have the ability to do what needs to be done when you're paged. We have pager rotation in our unit too; but it's shared for 5+ sub-divisions (different applications, databases, and languages). So if I get paged and the problem is on a foreign app, my job is basically to be a gopher and find somebody who DOES know that application. It's so retarded. But there's many more of us, so I only get it like twice a year.
