the yaris has 106hp and is a slug...but good on gas! they also have a sportier yaris S model...kinda like a corolla S

 

Yaris curb weight - 3280 for the hatch, 3300 for the sedan. Thats one heavy ass compact. Along with being underpowered, don't expect much other than gas mileage. Its just the new Echo. They are very nice inside though for the price range.

I'm currently deciding between a new yaris and a used mazda6. The 6 is nicer and better and all, but to be comfortably affordable, I'd have to ge used. SO i have to try and balance out niceness vs newness

You were probably looking at GVWR, not actual vehicle weight.

Yaris is a good looking car easy on gas and if you get the S sedan it handles pretty well for a subcompact. Id go for the yaris if you want a new car.
