I doubt its timing. unless they didn't mark the settings before pulling the dist off. Is the dist turned to any extremes (towards firewall or towards the radiator)? check your wires too

distributor timing probably wouldn't make the car drive that severe, i would make sure that your firing order is correct on the dizzy. make sure the plug wires are going to the appropriate points on the dizzy.

False, it has everything to do with timing. If the wires were off, the car would be backfiring and missing like a son of a bitch. Again, check the timing, it sounds like it needs more advance.
