One thing I've learned from the hit and run that happened to me is that unless you were injured, the cops won't do shit. Insurance won't do shit (all they have to do is deny they were there). The only way to get anything settled is with witnesses or with two busted cars.

i beg to differ, depending on youre tenure and reputation with the compony you work with, also the company it self, they will look at it and see what all possible scenarios are, they(insureance) all have special units that investigate any claim that you would use under you Uninsured motorists coverage which covers - hit and run, "phantom" driver, soverign immunity diplomatic immunity and unknown driver/vehcile.
Now the csr or claims rep and dept will look at the case and try to find any indication of fraud or false filing and fraudulent claims. If they can not find any indication of any of those they will run it by their dept guidelines and handle it accordingly.
Regardless of BI(bodily injury) they will still look at it, and if it is BI claim it will go through a seperate dept in most companies.
They only reason they are so strick about "hit and run" etc is becuase of the Frequency of fraudelent claims that have been occuring over the past years.
