'88 was the last year they made them. I think you're mistaking the fastback as an '88. Theres the notchback and the fastback, the fastback didn't start coming out until '86 and was only available on the GT version.

When the fiero first came out in '84 they came with 2.5 four cylinders. GM outsourced a lot of the parts for the engine and isuzu made a lot of connecting rods. For one reason or another a lot of the rods were weak and would launch before they bent. The fiero also originally only held 3 quarts of oil. People would run their motors low on oil (it wouldn't take long) so tie in low oil with weak rods and it made for some interesting engine grenading. Now you have all this hot oil running on top of a hot catalytic convertor that was in the engine bay and it would start a fire. This being said, there only 43 REPORTED cases of this happening. GM did a recall of changing the oil pan and putting a sticker by the gas cap saying "Check your oil"

Everything else about the car is fun, its like a glorified go cart and takes to engine swaps really well (hence my sig)

That yellow one looks like a ferrari.

If yellow paint is going to make your car look like that yellow one pictured...then i pick yellow.

Otherwise, gunmetal.
