I am rebuilding a D16 and am researching machine shops too.

Anyone use Norpa in Woodbridge?
norpa ruined one of my friend's corvette motor, I would go to Don's Head shop or AA speed/custom before norpa

Hahahahahaha.... they screwed resurfacing an exhaust manifold for me. I need it straightened out and they gave it back more crooked than when they got it.

I have heard Don does decent work.
AA Speed sends all their machine work out.

The guy I use works out of his backyard, but he does awesome work.

very funny. ha ha

a belt sander along with the gasket would have be good enough surface to seal exhaust gases. no need to send it out to a machine shop.

that leave norpa out. thanks for all the names/businesses. here comes the winter season - time to start the winter build. sorry for the mini thread jack.

You're a moron....
If the manifold surface is at an angle and you remove too much you may have problem reinstalling your exhaust. When dealing with mating surfaces in most cases you want to remove as little material as possible to have a true flat/level surface for better sealing.

But I guess a 16 sec car doesn't need that kind of precision

how much did you have to take off to make it flat? more than 1/8" on one side? i can see then having problems getting the o2 housing and the downpipe to line up with the rest of the exhaust.

i did say belt sander and not grinder didn't i? if you knew how to use a simple power tool you could have saved yourself some money and a manifold on top off that. whose the moron now. pics off the offending mani cause you don't have me convinced

you "hurted" my feelings internet tough guy. thanks and have a nice day!

The maifold wasn't for a DSM for starters.

2nd, I guess since you are so percise with a belt sander if you ever warp a cylinder head, you can just crank up the DeWalt and straighten it right back out

So many people trying to save a few pennies end up with screwed up shit just to waste mor time and money..... not for me.

A manifold is not the same as a cylinder head. Try to stay on topic. I hate to post this useless crap on this thread but I don't appreciate being called a moron in a public forum. Talk to anyone that builds tubular manifolds and ask them how they profile a flange after it's warped due to the heat from welding.

4SFED4, please do not direct anymore comments to me. Again I apologise to the other posters. More NoVa machine shops please.
