Engine for 1986 Civic Si
The best/easiest motor to swap into an 84-87 CRX or Civic is the browntop D16A1 from an 86-87 Integra, or a browntop ZC engine imported. These motors are distinguishable from latter model blacktop motors as they have a vaccum advance distributor, a block shaped intake manifold instead of more tubular, and of course the brown cam covers.
This motor does bolt into your car. However, you will need the appropriate transmission (86-89 Integra or ZC), axles, intermediate shaft. Using this stuff again, and it is a bolt in.
Wiring wise, you only change two wires. You move two wires from the distributor plug to the CAS on the exhaust cam of the new motor and done.
Since your car is injected, this is quite an easy swap.
The best resource of info on these cars is at redpepperacing.com
