So if you fall off the bike and your head explodes into someones windsheild then does it still not affect others?
If you fall off your bike and your helmet smashes through someones windshield then it still affects them. Maybe somewhat less gory though. The point is that you are not hurting anyone except yourself.
I'm doing a paper so what do you think? do you think we should have a helmet law? why? why not? limit it to under 18? under 21? would you wear one if there wasn't a helmet law? do you not wear one now? do you think it provides a false sense of security? does it limit your hearing\sight? would you pay more insurance or taxes to not have helmet laws? additional thoughts? thanks
There should be a "no helmet required" law if everyone wore one out of common sense. However, that's not the case, so I don't have a problem with the law. Helmet laws in VA protect the stupid from being stupider. I always wear a helmet and it in no way provides a false sense of security, since when I went down I would have been missing half of my jaw without a helmet. It in no way limits my hearing or sight. I will not pay increased insurance if that's what it takes to get a no helmet law passed. My final thought: if you don't wear a helmet then you are stupid. I don't care about excuses like I'm only going 5 mph. Well, how about when you're suddenly boosted to 25+ mph because someone wasn't paying attention and just rear ended your bike?
i think it should be up to the rider. if he/she wants to go without one that is their desicion
I agree, but I feel that insurance companies shouldn't cover any medical expenses due to injuries from not wearing a helmet. Can you imagine how much insurance would cost if there were no helmet laws and people didn't wear helmets?
