I bought a car from them about 4 or 5 years ago... drove it for one day and took it back the next. Found the same car (identical) for about 3600 less from private party.

 

I've gone there a few times to randomly test drive cars for fun that i had no intention of buying.

 

i'll let you borrow my integra if you replace the rear main seal in it. lol

 

i bought one car from there only because they had the lowest milage best condition mr2 spyder in the color i wanted in all of central va. they make buying the car from them very easy and the price i paid wasnt bad for what car i was buying. their warrenty is junk though, so do not get it. you can only have your car fixed there using their warrenty and you would be better of going to jiffy lube to get a new motor than carmax service. oh and they DO sell cars with frame damage, they sell some really really F'ed up cars. i go up there occasionally and pointed out some major body work on a bmw 5 series that i was looking at.

 

i was going to buy a 2000 civic lx from there a couple years ago. they wanted $14k for it with about 30k miles on it.

the interest rate they were asking for nearly had my dad choke the sales guy.

 

There extended warranty isn't the greatest but about average if not a little less. Best extended warranty I have seen is Subaru's hands down.

 

why not just finance outside of carmax through any bank or lender? thats what i did, there is no reason to even try to finance through them if you have good credit.

 

had carmax screw me on my extended warranty , had them replace a rear strut and a front strut . well one of my front struts started making noise again , when i called in for the 5th time , i had them listen to it for the 5th time so they wanted to send me to another shop , ok was like great thinking its not going to get fixed . car has now 60,500 miles on it - extended warranty runs out at 61k . and i have to go out of town this week end . well they send me to a shops called four wheel drive specialist , had them in the car to listen to it , they heard it in the first 1minute of driving when it took carmax 5 days of test drives , well i can hear it more on the drivers side and they heard it more on the passenger side . ( woodrow knows what i'm talking about - 04 STI struts ) . well they said carmax should replace both of them . we get back to the shop and they get on the phone with carmax , well carmax wants them to fix it , weird right why would carmax not want it . they said that was fine they would fix it under warranty . well they called up the warranty company got the info and then said the warranty company declined the work . i was sitting there speechless . well the warranty company said carmax charged them for two front struts and two strut mounts ( but they only replaced one ) . thinking to myself thats f***ed up . carmax is cheating customers out their warrantys . well he called carmax back up and talked to the service manager , so now the warranty company is paying for one strut and mount and carmax is paying for the other strut and mount . parts are supposed to be in this tuesday .

four wheel drive specialist ( ARE EXTEMELY GREAT ) if they have a dot com name or company name sticker in white i will greatly have it on my back glass at the top in the middle .

they found strut the problems by ear and touch ( play in the strut while moving it by hand ) and found the carmax scam .

friend has a sti and his lawyer is his neighbor , will be talking to him shortly and my friends girlfriend is on the enforcement team at BBB .

if you have work done under warranty by carmax , call the warranty company and compare notes , since something may not add up .

p.s. one strut is 379 bux / but i will settle with carmax if they extend my warranty at no cost .

 

Seems alot of bullshit happened by their part just for that. I see a few STI's for that problem.

Personally I rather not deal with Extended warranty companies that are not Subaru or Easy care as they try and screw my techs out of labor. Screw that, this is what my job pays, deal with it and pay up for your customer or the job isnt being done.

 

think thats what its called Easy Care , they said i could have just taking it to subaru since the warranty i put on it qualified at the dealer ( 75 bux everytime it would go there ) if it went to the dealer . just happy its getting fixed in alot less time then moores subaru took to fix a friends sti he bought new from there .
