belt dressings, soap, and WD40 do nothing more then lube the belt, causing the rubber to swell and break the glaze for a temp. fix.
of course, if the shit isnt assembled right or is out of alignment...it causes issues too.
but, i am not the great all knowing tech you are

a serp tensioner that is not functioning correctly causes squeal. a glazed belt causes squeal. generally, cracks dont do too much for noise, but they can on some instances.

All I know is.. the book says that there should only be about 1/4 inch of play between any 2 pulleys... my belts squeaked on my 92 talon when it was cold, but that went away after I tightened them...

...my initial posts was never directed towards him...it was only after he opened his mouth with some unecassary name calling that I said something to him.

midol, its on sale at Kroger with the MVP card 2 for 1. if you know a decent amount about repairing a car, i would advise against telling someone a half ass attempt at fixing something. do it once, do it right.
no where did i ever say or come across as a know it all (although i will admit i have probly worked on more cars then you will ever see, from acuras to yugos) but you seem to have this thing to knock someone that may be offering some slight technical advice, and attempt to have a pissing contest with them

Meh, its L1 mang. and i got some truck credentials now too
getting my EVT certs next spring so i can be all official when i work on emergency vechicles.
*edit* and take note that i dont post in technical much mainly due to the influx of highly idiotic comments and questions. if there is a legitimate problem someone is having, and it doesnt involve their swapped hatch
i go out of my way to try to help someone, not be a complete fucking tool (well....i do sometimes, but only in situations where it is called for.
)i find it funny this thread was revived from a two year death, and people bitch about it.
can we get a lock?
danka.
