In Virginia they can not take your radar detector. They can write down the model and serial but that is all. It is also a 40$ ticket if they catch you.

Spend some time there folks, V1 is VG-2 immune.

But then there is Spectre unit that is able to find the V1..

Yes the Officer was really cool, I personally think the device (spectra unit) was a personally bought item and not a department issued device.

I got pulled over in VA Beach last year, and the cop took my detector from me, he said if I wanted it back, I'd have to go to the courthouse to get it. And about 9 months ago, I got "Detector-detected" by a State Trooper, and he just took the serial number and wrote me the ticket. I came over a hill, and VG2 and Laser registered on my Cobra, I was kinda screwed.

They can not take it if they refuse to give it back get there badge number and ask to talk to the LT or commanding officer

WJCC area only one cop car has a mounted radar detec detec'er. from what i know (asked a cop i know)

heard there $$$ equipment

I call BULL on that part.
The only way they can scan or track a V1 if they put their scanner literally 3-4 feet away from the V1.
If he had a detector detector, then he probably initially picked up a signal from another car. V1 are not easy to be detected.

They don't use Spectre in the US.
