whats my chances
I usually hear the terms "interference" and "non-interference" motor.
IF the timing belt failed as you described just separating quickly without riding on jumped timing, then the valvesprings sans belt would force the valves up and out of the way. You might be fine. Compression test.

man this has happened to me twice, both while going 55 mph, one was a brand new timing belt on my ls vtec with less thank 10k miles on it, the other was on my gsr with 80k miles on it, both times i got lucky and the motor was fine. hopefully youll get lucky as well.
to do a compression test you have to crank the motor... the more you crank the motor or anything the greater the chance you will fuck some shit up pull the head off take a look around thats the only way i know how to check this.
dang, was it installed correct? to tight? to loose? somthing had to be wrong. sucks. But I bet you are fine, Ive yet to meet a single person who has done that, and messed anything up, I broke one in my D15b7... never fucked shit up. friends broken one on his GSR< B16, few friends GSR's. I bet you are fine. i hope.
yea everything was installed correct as far as i know. i just have bad luck thats all this is the 4th swap i have had to do bc of various things that dont happen to most but seem to happen to me all the time.
