Your oil will be cloudy if the gasket fails in such a way that the oil and coolant can mix. This doesn't always happen; it depends on why the gasket failed, where it failed, and the jacket design of the engine (where the oil and coolant passages are in relation to each other). Often the coolant will get burned before it gets past the piston rings, so direct mixing in the cylinder doesn't always happen either.
