Oh no, I will get it checked out my a mechanic before I but it... I meant assuming everything checks out (he gets the title off a lien, car checks out via Micah [girl] and so on). The Dr. Vanos I told you about is actually a rebuilt VANOS unit with some upgraded parts for $300+your ticking VANOS, but I'll take it into Micah Monday or Tuesday for sure.

Very nice, give her a call Tuesday, she's closed on Mondays. Hopefully the guy can get things cleared with the lien!

Now,
I need to find one to pick up! I miss mine. e46 or e36?

e36 if you want turbo it, e46 if you want to look like a prick... Just my opinion, I couldn't afford the prick look if I wanted to though, so it's e36 regardless of what I want.

If I went e46 I'd put a supercharger (VF or AA) on it. But I dont know if I could deal with that, it'd be sick, but turbo'd e36s have a special place in my heart! Forever!

There's something about an E36....and theres really something about an E36 with a front mount hidden behind that little grille.

well, you gotta think... a turbo kit is ~5k, to get it to where you'll want it, you'll need another 3k. so $8k for turbo set up + 12-14k for the car... you're looking at around 22k, give or take a couple grand. 22k will get you in the seat of an e46 m3, then figure another 5-6k for the SC. The right choice here is obvious.

Yeah i've done the math, the E36 would be the easiest, most fun power...I would opt for a GT35r, get a nice tune, and run meth injection and be good for 500whp+ on pump. The motors/trannys on these things can hold that no problem.

With the E46 it'd be heavier, but nicer, you wouldn't feel as 'in touch' with the road as you would an E36, but it'd be sweet to be supercharged...that's good for about 440whp+- but i'd have to blow a lot more money getting there. Plus, an E36 with similar power via a turbo is still faster, probably because they're lighter and the turbo just keeps pulling whereas the S'Cr plateaus at a certain point.

it seems that an e36 with a few bolt ons will keep up with an e46 stock up to about 100.

Anyway, 440whp on an AA s/c set up will cost you upwards of 10k and 12-13k from VF, so my guess is that the car+set up+extras (parts/shipping/etc) is out of your range even if you sold both S4's.

The e36 motors can handle about 550whp before you will blow the motor, so 500whp should be pretty safe, but still getting up there.

Yeah e36s with bolt on can generally hang with e46s due to the weight difference.

You can pick up a S/Cr kit for about 8k - who the hell pays for a new kit?

So thats 28k...well within the range. But I'm not sure I want to go that route. The e36 M3 motor has been proven to hold upwards/over 600whp, so I wouldn't be worried about that. Even 400whp is good for 11s, there are some guys who can run 10s with less than 500whp. If I can run 11s in the car i'll be happy. But I'd also like PSS9s and BBSs! That'd be the perfect setup.
