It is spelled VTEC, and that is the only correct way to spell it.

Limp home rev limit is between 3000 and 3500 RPM, and it won't allow VTEC to engage. Look for the cause of the problem; this isn't related to VTEC at all.

VTEC engages it just wont rev high if i take it past 6 and a 1/2 more than once.but i have to shut the car off every time i got to high revs if i dont want to redline at 6 and a 1/2 next time i get on it.

is it obd1 or obd2? if its an obd2 try getting a conversion harness so you can use a obd1 ecu.. also check your knock sensor
