. . .and for what it is worth, Don't ever, EVER think there is skiing that is comparable to the west coast/canada/Alaska on the east coast. Everything is slush/ice after abut 2pm. Getting more North, i.e.Conn/VT/ME helps, but it is still not anything like west of the Mississippi
snow shoe and white tail conditions are always good from my trips...i intend to call ahead though.
as for west coast mount hood in oregon has been the best i've been to

I have an uncle that lives in Vail, CO and his ex-wife/my aunt lives in Crested Butte... so remind me again why I don't go visit them?

Thanks.
massanutten, wintergreen or snowshoe are all great resorts. located in westvirginia. not to far. about 3-4 hours away

as for board size...it should be as tall as your chin

Don't ever rent on the mountain.

If you're going to rent, rent at a ski shop before you go.

Nah, I'm not dumb. I merely meant I'm new to Virginia (actually, the east coast, period). I'm from the deep south.

i live in winchester a little over an hour north of massanutten......that place is nice i used to go there alot......but if your lookin to really go snowboarding or skiing you need to head a little farther north to the poconos in PA its a bit of a drive for you to get there but trust me you will be glad you did there are 4 or 5 ski resorts within 15 mins of each other and all but one of them kick ass.......they have alot more of a selection of runs from beginner to expert skill level i recomend Big Boulder or Jack Frost if you buy lift tickets for one resort you can use both with the same lift ticket since they are owned by the same people......both of them kick ass......but if your lookin for something closer u should go to massanutten its nice but it doesnt even compare to the better resorts in the poconos its well worth the ride but its all up to you.
