not really, the act of pressing that pos in there distorts the tops of the cylinders, which is why you have to do it pre machining of the cylinders. furthermore it doesnt really strengthen anything, it only touches the cyl ina few places, and being made of soft alu the deck guard flexes just like the sleeves.. still allowing distortion and breakage. things dont have to move miles to fail.. just a few thousandths of an inch is all it takes. dartons are a much stronger material and are thicker.. which is why they are used.
if this kid isnt puttin down 400 plus to the wheels then why bother with anything. turbo porsches are open deck motors that are boosted often modified and rarely fail. open deck just isnt the weakness that people think. the block guard also reduces circulation of coolant, which is probably worse on the motor than a teeny amount of cyl flex.

ok i think the coolant flow is more important. im only gonna be pushing 250-275. its a honda motor and its been bored 20 over so thats why i was concerned, the sleeves arent the tickest in the world but i have delt with high temps before and i want to deff avoid that. i dont have the funds for aftermarket sleeves so im gonna try my luck with the stock ones. if anyone has ever put this kind of a shot on a 1.8 ls motor before id appreciate any info as to how it handled it. im putting the motor in next week so i need to know as much as possible before i drop it in. thanks for the info

sprayin 100 shot should be no problem. assuming you have aftermarket rods and a decent quality piston everything will be cool. the right amount of timing and nos jetting will be key to letting it live.
