same with 66...but what i hate about 495..is when you get stuck when the bridge comes up, that totally fuckin suxors

I do that with traffic lights...like 13 for instance. If I see the light turning red from a distance, I can usually coast depending on the distance long enough for it to turn green, saving my brakes and gas consumption. Va Beach Blvd. is tough though. Many cities have timers for roads like that which helps keep traffic rolling. Not the Commonwealth.
With traffic I don't have the patience. It would be very tough for me to break old habits.

 

Ya, i actually read about that years ago. Everytime traffic "slows down" for no reason I try and explain to anyone in the car with me the science behind it. =]

The problem is though, is that people aren't smart enough to comprehend that. It still amazes me at why people will slow down to 30 mph in the HRBT every damn day, regardless of time, weather, traffic etc. etc.

 

The people here cant drive for shit! Period...
And ive done this slow down and let traffic "Evaporate" thing... it doesnt work, especially here. Unless its a 1 lane kind of traffic. If its two lanes.. the moment you slow down and try to open up an area in front of you to let traffic start a flow again. Some stupid fuck from the other lanes jumps in front of you in your lane doing the stop and go shit again. It doesnt work! As long as we have impatient fuckers who find the need to switch lanes in traffic thinking they are getting somewhere faster and slowing the others down behind them... this "Evaporate" thing will not work.

 

i had to go across the water every day last week. and i came up with the same idea, cause if you notice the truck lane usually is the best in the tunnel, and i figured it was due to the fact that they never brake, so i do the same..

now if we can keep the fuckers from dropping to 25 and hitting their flashers cause they are from iowa and have never seen a tunnel that would be great.

It actually does work, i tried it thursday coming back from the beach. as soon as i hit traffic going toward the hrbt i tried it out and sure enough the cars behind me were going roughly 30mph steadily. by the time i got to where the wave of braking occured, it was done and i kept moving. pretty cool.
