As of recent its become more stringent, which is why you are seeing alot of cars disappear from the Japanese market such as the Skyline, Supra, Rx-7, etc, but take for example, the sr20det will not past emissions here.

It isn't just emissions. There are federal safety standards (crashworthiness, etc) that need to be met. RHD has nothing to do with it.

Yeah I believe crash test have to be done, but Skylines are driving in the States. I imagine someone must have had them done or something.

sigh..
1. emissions
2.front and rear bumper rebar
3. all windsheilds and windows do not meet us safety standards
4. in order to determine if a vehicle is safe enough to be driven in the us the usually have to wreck up 10-20. do want to wreck 10-20 skylines?
5. the cost to actually make one "legal' in the us is around 10k i i remeber corectly. essentially detuning the car, and changing the safety features all around the car and even at this point it can only be registered as a show car(i think).

my girlfriends brother looked into quite a bit for a while but gave up. you can always take an 'ol 240 , take the vins off and bur that bitch and slap the vins on a skyline and pass that shit off as a 'kitted out 240. only problem is you have to sneak a car into the country first without getting caught.

Paul Walker is fucking driving a R34 on the street. I doubt he did all this illegal VIN mess and then slapped it on the front cover of a magazine afterwards.

Big difference between normal joes like us and Paul Walker the rich actor. Like it was said before, enough money can make them legal.

Even if he's got one illegally on the street, I doubt he gives a s#!t. If the cops actually caught him, ticketed him, and made him get rid of it...oh well. He'll just go buy another Ferrari or Viper cause that's what rich car guys do...

No shit...you guys look into this too much. Nissan didn't see a market for Skylines so they never paid the millions of dollars it would take to get them legal for sale in the US. Same reason that there are LOTS of other cars drivinf around overseas that don't come here. And why is everyone on the Skyline's nuts? Justr because you can't have it. Let me let you in on something, even if it was available for sale in the US, 99% of you couldn't afford it. And then, seeing as how you couldn't afford it, you'd make a Civic faster than one and then talk about how stupid it is to own a Skyline and how overpriced they are for the performance. My idea, bring the 206 stateside.
