Honest opinion on car for road racing?

For now I’m ruling out the use of the srt for this. Reason one is because I want to use it for drag racing, and reason two is I don’t want to risk wrecking it.
So I’m trying to figure out what to look at for a coarse car.
I have the hatch that already has body damage so no worries about wrecking and from what I’ve heard they make great track cars. It would take a engine and transmission swap at the very least to get it doable on a track though since the 45mpg engine simply would not make it any fun...
I’m also thinking about getting a 1G ACR to use. From what I read they came stock ready to rock and roll, plus I already have a Helmet being airbrushed with a Mopar design.
So does any one have any feedback on either option, which would be better/cheaper in the long run?
Anyone have any suggestions on another car to use for this? When I say suggestion I mean would be cheaper but just as fun.

It will take alot more than a motor and tranny to make your civic track ready.
Your brakes and tires will be the first to wear out on a road course. stock eg brakes won't be up to the task and you might run the risk of brake failure. The fluid will probably boil over too.
I would suggest suspension/brakes/tires/radiator upgrade for the civic before any power upgrades.

That is absolutly true. Most people that i've seen with track civics have them because they are dedicated track cars with lots of mods. Stock, they are not gonna hang very long, brakes are gonna get hot really fast and your gonna be fighting the car after your brakes go. For your situation i'd say just take the SRT to some auto x's. It's already got the power. Having driven one it's not the greatest handeling car but i bet you could probably throw some good pads / wider tires / and maybe a beefy sway bar on it and it would rotate rather nicely. The only problem is that with your mods you are probably gonna be put into a really tough class but it does'nt mean you won't learn and get better! And about tearing the car up.. a few battle scars never hurt anybody and you have the beater civic to take you to work
I do belive if it's a sanctioned event, most insurance companies will cover you also.

daytona.
do minor brake mods, lower it an inch or so, corner weigh it, and tweak the boost a little, or drop a turbo II engine in it if its an NA
cheap, handle well, and can be made fast cheap too.
or get a miata if you are secure in your manhood. i cannot fit my fat ass in one, nor am i wanting to be caught driving a homo car.
*edit*
changing your hatch over to a track car is pretty stupid IMO.. keep it as your daily. too much shit to change over to get it to handle and brake well.
the daytona, albeit a solid axle rear design (obviously inferior to every ohter kind of suspension
) will handle VERY well for VERY cheap.
brakes are pretty good stock, add some new yorker rotors and good race pads, some race pads in the rear, some GTLMA fluid and thick mofo bars.
drop it a little, and rock the fuck out with your cock out in yer dodge.
a sentra SE-R is a very good choice also, if you want to go that route. pretty cheap, and can handle well too.
and for those that say a daytona cant handle......all i have to say is IROC.

Cootees:
I agree with joey. A daytona is an excellent choice. You can find them cheap and parts for these, just like almost all mopars can be abundantly found. You can pick up a shelby daytona with minimal body damage for a little over 1k. Another mopar car that is an excellent choice is the shelby lancer. You don't see many of them but Caroll Shelby designed them for performance handling and tuning. It is also backed with the TurboII engine. Do not get it confused with the dodge lancer shelby. They are two totally different cars. However with you being a mopar nut I am sure you have heard about these wonderful cars before.
An fc3s would also be an excellent choice with suspension upgrades.

Don't go all out and do the motor swap and blah blah blah before you learn how to drive. You will be surprised at how much fun you will have in any car. I know people who can run faster lap times with an almost stock car than people with a long list of track mods. it's a lot of driver skill to be fast on track. you won't hit 120 down the back straight at VIR without a swap, but you will enjoy yourself just the same.
