Send me a PM with your number so I can get in contact with you, I’ll also need at least an address of this property or a street intersection near it. A GPIN number would be helpful.

Didn't read the whole thread but why are you thinking grandstands, fuel on site, and lights? I don't understand why this idea can't be something simple. www.gingermanraceway.com seems like a simple place and a good starting point for the beginings of a simple local raceway. Pics of the track are HERE
Their frontstrech is over 1300 feet long, plenty long enough for a 1/8 mile and braking/runoff area. Maybe you can contact the guy who owns/runs the place and get some info from him on his facilites, site size, maintenence, and construction costs.

Benz I sold my Supra. Then I went and bought another one. Actually I'll be coming home for leave in Aug.. Then my punk ass has to come back over here to "make the world a safer place" but about this time in 2007 i'll be back in Tidewater for good.
Without being able to draw big boys and have actual events that can draw a crowd and make money, even if it does open, it wont stay open for long. If you dont have enough run off room, neither the NHRA or the IHRA will sanction the track. If they dont sanction the track, say goodbye to trying to get anything other than some backwoods bracket racing and test and tune nights. You wont be able to keep the place running because you'll be so far in the hole moneywise because it wont attract enough people (spectators and racers) to dig itself out.
Without the NhrA and IHRA,l you wont get FFW, Super Chevy Show, any IHRA or NHRA races (which happen to have an average attendance of 100k people per DAY, and average ticket costs are 35 dollars a head, you do the math, they make money.), or really any big events that you see advertised for VMP.
And what are you gonna do, turn down cars because they may be too fast to run? Word will get out as soon as you do that, and there goes another portion of your businessl when people see that you dont have enough shut down area to get them to a stop.

If it is, it'll be dead in the first year. Business are always in the red after the first year, it takes them usually a few to pull themselves out of the initial start up hole. Without big name races/sanctioning, you'll never pull a racetrack out of the hole. Especially not in this area. I dont know about you, but i'd rather drive 1 hour to get to a sanctioned track with good prep, enough run off room just incase, and lots of real cars than drive 45 minutes for a worse track that isnt going to be as long and/or wont be as well prepped.
If you're going to plan this, you need to do it right. Get sanctioned, build it big, and they will come. Build it small, and it'll never get off the ground. If you rush it just to get it going, it's not going to last. If you take your time, plan it out properly, and do what needs to be done to get it at least ready to TRY to be sanctioned, it'll be alot easier and cheaper in the long run then having to redo things every year because they need improvements.
