My New Time Attack Car Build Thread
Yeah I wasn't going to say anything, but or a very long time ATI only made a 10% underdrive damper because they couldn't achieve the desired levels of damping with anything smaller. However, the drag race and street modder community wanted them because they free up a horse or two and other popular brands like the shitty ASP etc. are 25%. Unfortunately one of the main causes of failed timing chains on these engines is running a 25% damper. Most everyone in the auto-x/road racing forum goes back to stock or runs a 10% underdrive ATI or a Fluidamper. Personally I've run 10% underdriven ATIs on my last two Z06s w/o any issues... love them and no wobble like the OEM one as the damper rubber wears out. Hopefully ATI made it better than the other 25% units on the market. My buddy Casey (CSVette) has one on his 500 rwhp white Tigershark FRC, but his car is a weekend bruiser/drag car vs. a road race setup.

lol now i'm all worried I got the wrong damper. I did hear that ATI said it's recommended for engines making 450hp or less. So I think I should be ok but i'm going to call them tomorrow. They make legit stuff and I just can't see them making a damper that would grenade engines.
They do make great stuff so I'm sure their 25% setup is far superior to the crappy ASP. I think every chain failure I've read about has been with some ASP or other lower end damper. Not sure many people have run the 25% ATI.
Yea i'm gonna give them a call tomorrow. From reading on some other forums this damper is only intended for stock bore, mild builds similar to mine. I doubt it will make over 400 wheel. So hopefully i'm in the clear but I do appreciate you bringing it up.
