noone said they hated zc... but someone did say that a 1.6 zc has more torque potential than a 1.8... thats retarded

well the b18 is a great motor...the zc is pretty limited as far as tuning....but I'd say the best swap you can do for the money is an F20b out of a 97-00 accord. 200hp stock and usually you can get them for the same or less than a GSR

This isn't true. With everything else held constant, increasing the stroke of an engine would raise the compression ratio, not lower it.

On topic: Given the price difference, I'd say the B18 is a better option than the ZC. It's not much (if at all) more difficult to install and the extra displacement makes a word of difference, especially if it's going into a CRX. The F20 is going to cost much more than either option, but without knowing the budget constraints I couldn't say if it's a feasible option or not.

Yea, you're right. I put my foot in my mouth on that one.. I needed to explain it fully.. given the diff. rods and pistons... ect.

Are you looking to go NA or Boost? I was doing LS turbo in my old CRX and I had issues with getting everything to fit cleanly under the hood. Aftermarket front Crossmembers tidy it up a lot when using the half sized radiators. Just a lil tip.

I have a ZC DOHC and I love it. It is quick and very reliable. It can handle a 50 shot all day long or you can turbo charge it and run 7-8 pounds and a stock motor. Basically, since it's going in an ef you can make only 180 whp quite easily and run an awesome time. 1.6 liters is so small though.
However, if you have the money go with an LS. And get the newer version(more hp). I personally think they are better than b16s. Its a bigger motor and if you boost or spray this motor, you will beat the ZC. You can also find parts all day long for an LS motor. Get OBD1 or OBD 2 conversion so it will be easier to tune and manage your car. It will also be a newer engine and won't be 15 years old. Also do some research on your tranny gearing depending upon what you want to get the perfect setup.
