got pulled over for speeding
I was not aware that they are not required to show you the radar anymore. I know several people who were refused to see the radar before and got off because of that.
Its not like its a big deal for the officer to walk up to the car with the lidar gun and show you the speed when he asks for your license/registration.
And now they pass a law saying that they don't have to show you the speed from a lidar gun, even though they are handheld units. Makes you wonder how many times the police claim to get you catch when they didn't.
Like my case, he refused to let me see the radar unit. Its not like we were on the side of 66 at 5pm. I got stopped on a side street where he claimed he caught me going 65 in a 35 on radar. I know that I was not going more than 45 or 50, not to mention my radar detector never went off. Later on when we were talking, I was outside of my and was able to peek inside his cruiser and saw that the radar unit was never turned on.

i would recommend taking the driver improvement course before court and take the certificate with you, if anything they will lessen the charge if you dont have alot of points on your record
i had -11 i went in with a reckless ticket and all i had to do was pay the fine of 171 bucks cause i got caught doin 65 in a 45

This fucked up state always caters to police.
Why would they pass a proposal saying cops don't have to show the radar to the person pulled over? So now cops can just bullshit and say they caught you speeding, when they really didn't?

and YES IN COURT THEY HAVE TO HAVE PROOF TO GIVE YOU A TICKET. YOU CAN ASK THE JUDGE TO MAKE THE COP SHOW THE RADAR GUN. BUT YOU HAVE A TO HAVE AN LAWYER/PUBLIC DEFENDER. without one you lose.
another way to go is ask for an extension and get a public defender. in minor traffic cases like this. the public defender will usually get you off easy. they are more personable with the judge.
OR IF THAT COP WAS JUST BEING A CUNT. to meet quota. SHE PROBABLY WONT SHOW UP AND THEN YOUR SCOTT FREE.
happend to a friend of mine. he was doing 90 in a 45 and the cop didnt show up he got a slap on the wrist and sent home
Public defenders aren't really going to help alot in a traffic violation. Also, don't count on the cop not being there, or the judge dismissing it for that matter. I was in court for an exhaust ticket, the cop never showed up and all the judge did was continue it to the officer's next court date. One thing you can do if the officer doesn't show up is plead guilty with explanation, where basically the judge convicts you based on your testimony. I ended up getting my RD-generally dropped to improper driving (3 points instead of 6) and like a $50 fine. And don't go plead guilty with explanation and then make up BS or excuses as to why you got caught because the judge will definately stick it to you.
One thing you can do is subpoena for the police officer's radar/lidar license, and certificate of calibration for the radar/lidar. A friend of mine got out of a RD-racing 90 in a 45 in this way. His lawyer issued a subpoena for the officer's lidar certificate. he officer didn't bring it to court as it turned out the officer wasn't certified to use a lidar gun. The judge dismissed the ticket.
I'm not sure of the exact process, but you don't need a lawyer to subpoena for those certificates. You have the right to request that information. I think you fill out a subpoena and send it the the PD or Commonwealth's attorney. If they don't respond, you can mention that to the judge.....it could help you out in getting the charges reduced.
