i appreciate your help fellas. the fuckin ground wires at the thermostat housing rattled loose. thats why it would start sometimes. i put a new 10mm in there and were good to go.
It's amazing how much ground wires play a part in running correctly.
How can you rev it nice and high with out it starting, but I know what you mean by vapor lock. Old 86 f150 used to do that.
