That text was leftover from when we only allowed profile pictures to be uploaded, it has since been changed.

For signatures almost anything is fine as long as it's work safe.

so now in order to have a sig, it has to be hosted on your bandwidth? I'm not understanding something here; wouldn't that increase your bandwidth usage? Or is it simply to cut down on abuse of the sig space (large pics, nws pics, etc...), without regard to bandwidth usage?

Correct. We're consistently under our bandwidth limit so that was never really an issue.

It's not a matter of our bandwidth, but the users. Not everyone has cable and a giant monitor to be looking at the images some of the people decide to use (you'd be surprised that number of times people use multiple MB images in their sig ). Now it isn't an issue.

If you can't find anyone to do it try one of these links: http://www.google.com/search?q=online+picture+resizer

From a quick scan the 3rd result seems to be pretty good (the first 2 limit what you can resize the pictures to).

Aww...now i cant see the grooves in my tires anymore

The sig automatically changed the size for me....its simple to work with people. Just save the image somewhere on your computer and upload it into the field.

It only scales the height and width by the same amount though, which may or may not result have the results you were looking for. As an example if the image has a width of 240 and a height of 120 and the forums will scale it to a 120x60 image even though the width is under the limit.

It's usually better to crop & resize it yourself to fit the dimensions than let the forums do it for you.
