Cox Cable sucks now, is DSL better?
I had the same problem with my Cox internet. Come to find out, it was my old ass RCA modem. Bought a new Motorola SURFboard modem. Havn't lost connection for 3 days now. (I was losing connection almost 3 times an hour)
I just decided to sign up for verizon internet last night. Its not dsl though is FIOS fiber optics. I got the 15mb for $44. They are supposed to hook it up on the 2nd so ill see how it is. I was testing it at the mall before I signed up and the google videos were downloading complete within seconds.
Yea man I've been having horrible connection with cox internet for the past 2 months. I would always lose connection at night all the damn time, but they finally fixed my shit after coming for like the 8th time. It's most likely nothing wrong with the inside of your house, its usually the outside wiring. Anyway, whenever verizon fios gets to our area, I'm switching asap 8- )
same.. i signed up for Fios last night (for them to call me when it comes to my area) but im in centerville/kempsville.. i dont think they're gonna bring it out here soone enuff ;(
The RG6 will still be the limiting factor.
Verizon's FIOS brings fiber to the tap, then it uses copper into the house. Cox uses fiber to the node, or pretty much the entrance to the neighborhood. Then it uses huge copper to the tap, then normal rg6/rg11 to the house and rg6 inside. The distance for the large copper and the RG6/11 is so small that you're not going to notice that huge of a difference with FIOS unless you're running massive amounts of bandwidth.
The RG6 will still be the limiting factor.

, and dont get it twisted kids..fiber optics has been used on military ships since the 80's, the idea was invented back before this country was even invented..but i wont get into history
